Taurus & Venus Aspects & Transits ~January 8, 2023

This post is an exploration of aspects & transits associated with The Hierophant & Taurus (and somewhat Venus) as inspired by the January 8, 2023 dance embodying The Hierophant archetype dance held by Ritual Movement 555 in Asheville, North Carolina.

(Some) Current Taurus Placements and Their Aspects and Transits

Uranus in Taurus

Uranus: our individual/collective Queering/Questioning Weirdo, chaotically creating scenarios where our individualism must be fully embraced so we can all be our truest selves, together. The only planet that rotates on its side. Symbol of equal liberation for all, but not identically. Our collective mind, our shared nervous system - for better and for worse as it connects us through our distant visions and the thousand year stare of trauma. Ultimately, Uranus is about waking us up! As an 8 year transit through this sign, we have time to learn the lessons of this sign - please look at If we work with this energy well, we will be more deeply in touch with updated visions the ways our values play out here on Earth.

Uranus is associated with The Fool, Key 0 in the Major Arcana (which to me is one of the more awkward astrological overlays). As I began this series at Key 3, The Emperor, I may return to write about this archetype later on . If you want a deeper look at the transit of Uranus through the uncomfortable (for it) clothing of Taurus, please read my post Uranus in Taurus: At the Halfway Mark. But for now, let’s look at Uranus in, for it, the often uncomfortable clothing of Taurus.

How do we update, or queer up, traditions to make them relevant for us in this era - what would a dance like this look like? How might you use your voice in this space? Or engage with your neck or shoulders in new ways? How do we move our bodies in the most authentic way possible, even in ways that might draw rejection from this group not because they harm someone, but because they are outside the scope of what norms are currently established?

North Node in Taurus

The lunar nodes are not in fact celestial bodies but two points on the ecliptic (the route that we see the Sun, Moon, and all planets take across the sky). The North Node is the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic into the Northern Hemisphere, the South Node where the Moon crosses it to enter the Southern Hemisphere. In Evolutionary astrology, the South Node indicates what type of karma one enters life with, and the North Node Sounds nebulous? Other branches of astrology look at the nodes as fate points. Does this all sound nebulous? The nodes are nebulous, and in some ways my favorite and also the most mysterious elements in a chart reading. So for us on January 8, what is our Taurean dance with fate?

Venus (in Aquarius) Square North Node (in Taurus)

What diamonds might emerge as our desire to connect to ourselves and others as authentically as possible across all perceived lines of categorization has a conversation with the fates of traditions?

Sun and Mercury (in Capricorn) Trine Uranus (in Taurus)

Notice if you may have bodily experiences and mental insights into these deeply charged changes in our visions and values for the Earth.

Uranus Conjunct North Node (both in Taurus)

These 2 have been traveling with each other for an extremely long time - since June 3, 2022 and will finally get out of the range of conjunction with one another about a week after Uranus stations direct on January 22, 2023. What is our fate as Uranus wakes us up in the Taurean realms? How do we dance the fate of The Hierophant?

(Some) Current Venus Aspects and Transits

Venus in Aquarius

Our relating principle, both to our inner selves and values (Venus is by Taurus) and our relationships and beauty in the outer world (Venus is also ruled by Libra) are tasked with being as true to ourselves and how we love as possible (Aquarius). This can look like breaking out of ANY type of socially agreed upon grouping (Saturn) in order to be fulfilled - race, gender, ethnicity, sexual identity, religion, socio-economic class, nationality, tribal membership, profession, team affiliation. Can you think of a category? That belongs here, too. In a gentler expression, we might experience Venus in Aquarius as the type of love we feel when in a group setting. Experiment with embodying this by dancing with yourself, or with someone else, or both, in a way that breaks every mold imposed on you from the exterior world that feels nourishes you

Moon (in Leo) Opposite Venus (in Aquarius)

Our inner emotional world may be asking us to take some emotional risks and may be in need of some attention from those we feel the most commitment to (Leo Moon) and this may be at odds with our need to relate to our inner experience and with who we are drawn to in the outer world that shatters any societal expectations. But remember! Leo is our Sun, and many stars are also suns - each a distant vision of light (Aquarius).

How can we slide back and forth between those two, remembering our love for the ones closest to our hearts and for us all? Try shifting back and forth moving between dancing with your innermost heart or person you are closest to, and falling in love with the feeling of dancing in the energy of the group.

Venus (in Aquarius) Trine Mars (in Gemini)

How might our most convention-challenging relational authenticity within ourselves and with others support our choices in where we put our energy? Get curious and pay attention to how we might work with this energy in a room full of many leaders. Pay attention to what risks we might take within ourselves and others,.

Venus (in Aquarius) Sextile Jupiter and Chiron (in Aries)

Getting as honest as we can with our relational needs and desires can support our own self-healing and expanded sense of our personal power and drive. Notice if challenging your own sense of movement or rules you have in the dance space can support our own self-healing and discovery of personal strength .

Most importantly, break every suggestion I have made here! Overthrow The Hierophant (or at least the one in the Rider-Waite deck)!
